I'll Just Restart the Dryer.....

How true is picture? This is me every morning when I finally decide what I want to wear and it is wrinkled!

I swear my dryer hates me with how much I make it run! I am super bad about not folding my laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer! My mother is awesome at this method.  She even has the dryer running in between folds.  I, however, call my method the "pull it out of the dryer and put it in a basket and spend hours folding on the weekend" or probably what my mother calls the "lazy method".

It comes to no surprise to most of my family that I am a lazy person. I can be brilliant when I want to be, but I am content with being lazy at times. (Like one time when me and my boyfriend's sister watched all of season 1 of Bates Motel in one day......it. was. awesome!) However, my brilliance has paid off when it comes to folding my t-shirts!

I got my inspiration (or Pin-spiration!) from a blog called xoJane. When Bryan and I moved into our new home last year, I became the ruler of the clothes! I took on my own form of folding t-shirts! It makes total sense.  It was one of those "why didn't I think of that first" moments! Why wouldn't you fold your shirts so you can see all of them at once?  So here we go!

Materials

a bunch of unfolded t-shirts
a drawer
time
patience

Step 1: Line up the seams at the top of the shirt, and fold the shirt in half long ways.

Step 2: Fold over the sleeves.

Step 3: This step is optional. I like for my shirts to be skinnier length wise, so I fold them in half again long ways! I have seen this step skipped before! Totally up to you!

Step 4: Fold the shirt in half short ways now

Step 5: Fold it one more time short ways!

Step 6: Put them in your drawer, and admire the crap out of them! Pat yourself on the back for being so clever!

***: For long sleeve t-shirts, I fold them the same way, but I fold the sleeves a little differently.  Check out the picture below.

Some side notes:

  • The number of columns you get will vary on the shirt size. Bryan's shirts are bigger than mine, so he only has 4 columns while I have 5.  (This forced him to get rid of some shirts! *insert evil laugh*)
  • This takes PRACTICE! It took me a while to get the fold down. However, I can whip out t-shirts in no time now that I have it figured out!
  • You could also use this as "spring cleaning" method.  If you keep putting your newly clean shirts in the back, all of the shirts that you do not use will get shoved for to the front.  After some time, toss those shirts! You obviously didn't want to wear them!

Thanks for reading, and enjoy your completely fabulous and organized t-shirt drawer!
